Today, Snapchat rolled out an update to its iOS and Android apps that introduced World Lenses, a way to animate the world around you. Until this point, Snapchat’s lenses had only been used for selfie effects like turning your face into a puppy or to put a crown of virtual flowers on your head.
Now, by simply tapping your screen when your rear-facing (read: not the front-facing selfie camera) camera is enabled, the world around you will come to life with passive effects like snow and a cloud of hearts, and reactive effects, like enabling an on-screen flashlight and, a fan favorite, making everything around you puke rainbows.
To access these features, head to the App Store on iOS or the Play Store on Android to update your app.
Updated to include confirmation of the Android release of this feature.
